Both encoders are highly precise and have an excellent signal quality, thanks to the optical measuring principle. A DC-micro-motor or brushless servo can be positioned with an accuracy of 0.1 to 0.3° with the IER3 and IERS3. Encoders are therefore the ideal solution for high-precision positioning applications. These encoders form a singlechip opto-reflective system, as the LED, photo-detectors, the analysis unit and interpolation levels are installed in one chip. Both encoders are available with Line Driver, which generates complementary output signals and makes the transmission of data particularly resistant to electrical interference. The IER3 provides the highest resolution for its class (up to 10,000 lines per revolution). The encoder achieves an angular resolution of 0.009° with the evaluation of 40,000 edges per revolution. The design of the TOK series manages the critical resonance frequencies of the drive train to below the operating speed range. By employing torsional vibration calculations and dampening the alternating torques generated by the engine’s combustion process, all the drive components are protected against critical shocks and loads, thus increasing the service life and availability of the entire installation. Designed for speeds of up to 10,000 rpm, they offer a high torsional flexibility and torque transmission capacity from 100 up to 70,000 Nm and are particularly well suited in test benches for combustion engine testing. Their design also permits them to be used on flexibly mounted engines in various drive trains.
