Product News Measurement becomes nanoprecise Wittenstein, the mechatronics drive specialist, will unveil the IDS3010, an Industrial displacement sensor with sub-nanometer resolution at the upcoming Hannover Messe 2017. IDS3010 is ultra-compact, highly dynamic and a contactless inteferometric measuring sensor. With a data acquisition bandwidth of 10 MHz, it can simultaneously track targets in up to 3 axes at velocities of 2 m/s. The sensor provides 10-12 m position resolution and reaches working distances of up to 5 m. As officially confirmed by the German National Metrology Institute (PTB), IDS3010 enables accuracies previously unheard of in industrial position sensing. The sensor is also compatible with extreme conditions such as ultra high vacuum, very high or low temperature or radioactive environments. This innovative sensor can be used to calibrate machine tools, detect vibration amplitudes in machines, measure the concentricity of motor shafts, crankshafts and camshafts or implement ultra-precise pick-and-place robotic applications, for example in the semiconductor industry. www.wittenstein.de/en-en New manufacturing facility in Romania for Timken’s roller bearings As a global supplier of tapered roller bearings, The Timken Company is all set to increase its market share in Europe, with the opening of another production plant in Romania. The existing plant in Romania manufactures large-bore roller bearings. The new plant will be located nearby and will complement the existing manufacturing sites for tapered roller bearings in France, Italy and Poland. This means the company is geographically well-positioned to be more responsive to customer needs at peak times. The new facility will have 120 new employees on a space of 15,000 m 2 . At Hannover Fair, Timken will discuss how optimized materials, surfaces, geometries, and designs can benefit manufacturers and end-users by helping reduce noise, support higher loads and prolong service life. Brake Technology 4.0 at Hannover Messe 2017 With Industry 4.0 gathering momentum, more and more companies are presenting their applications.
